WANTED-QUALITY FURNITURE AND WHITE GOODS. SHAP (Single Homeless Accommodation Project). As an organisation we support young vulnerable homeless people in Kirklees aged 16-30 to get housed and maintain a successful tenancy. SHAP is primarily funded through the governments ?Supporting People Grant? which goes directly into supporting the young people. What we cannot fund through this grant and why we are making this request is to be able to provide these young people with some basic essentials for their new home. National research and our own experience shows that the key reason for young people abandoning their tenancies within the first few weeks is the lack of furniture and lack of basic goods. This not only means they are homeless again but it also seriously affects their chances of housing in the future. If we can offer these goods free of charge then these young people can get a head start in acquiring the basic essentials they need for their new home.
